COLLECTIVE Fuse Gun
The Fuse Gun is a weapon of my own design from the comic book COLLECTIVE (check it out at www.dualityentertainment.com). I always thought it would be cool to make one after drawing it so many times from computer reference. I made some changes to the design as it took shape...some for mechanical reasons, others for aesthetic reasons.
The barrel is 1-3/8" PVC (with a 1" piece recessed within). I built a framework for the forward receiver out of styrene.
After framing the front, I covered it with styrene.
I built the grips out of styrene in box form to slip over the frame. A bit of Dremel sanding rounds out the edges of the grip.
The slide rails were built out of 8 sheets of styrene and sanded/carved into shape. The inner rail, where it touches the barrel, was formed by wrapping sandpaper on the PVC and sanding until my arm fell off!
The curved connector at the back of the barrel was made by heat(gun) forming a strip of .08 styrene over the PVC. A second strip was heat formed over the first to add thickness.
I cast a hemisphere (from a ping pong ball) out of resin for the barrel end. I sculpted a base from laminated styrene for the slide.

To mount the magazine, I cut a recess in the receiver to fit a magnet.
A quick test fit of the painted parts.
I added a lanyard ring to the base of the grip
I made a master for the magazine section with layered styrene.
This was molded and cast in resin. Unfortunately the resin was old and wouldn't cure completely.
But I used it as a form to heat shape styrene around.
I cut out the inside and replaced it with a styrene insert that would connect to the gun.
The completed magazine with steel plates added to connect to the magnet.
I added some socket bolts for the front of the magazine to lock into.
